NEURONOX

Proudly serving Tarzana and Los Angeles County, CA.

What is Neuronox?

Neuronox is a purified protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This protein works by blocking nerve signals to the muscles it's injected into, causing them to relax.

What are the Uses of Neuronox?

There are several approved uses for Neuronox:

  • Cosmetic Treatment: Most commonly used for temporarily reducing the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).

  • Medical Treatment:

    • Muscle spasticity: Helps relax muscles in conditions like stroke or cerebral palsy, improving mobility and reducing pain.

    • Blepharospasm: Reduces involuntary eyelid twitching.

    • Cervical dystonia: Manages involuntary neck muscle contractions.

    • Excessive underarm sweating: Reduces sweating in the armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis).

How Does Neuronox Work?

When injected into a targeted muscle, Neuronox blocks the release of a chemical messenger (acetylcholine) at the neuromuscular junction. This temporary disrupts the communication between nerves and muscles, causing them to relax and reducing muscle activity.

Benefits of Neuronox

Here are some potential benefits depending on the use:

  • Cosmetic: Reduces the appearance of wrinkles for a smoother, younger-looking appearance.

  • Medical: Improves muscle control, reduces pain and discomfort, and enhances function in various medical conditions.

Who is a Good Candidate for Neuronox?

Whether Neuronox is suitable for you depends on the intended purpose:

  • Cosmetic: Generally healthy adults wanting to reduce frown lines. It may not be suitable for everyone with certain medical conditions, pregnant or breastfeeding women.

  • Medical: Your doctor will assess if Neuronox is appropriate for your specific medical condition and if it can benefit you.

Consultation is Crucial

Before undergoing Neuronox treatment, a consultation with a qualified healthcare professional is essential. This could be a dermatologist, a plastic surgeon, or a neurologist depending on the intended use. They can:

  • Discuss your goals and medical history.

  • Determine if Neuronox is the right approach for you.

  • Explain the procedure, potential side effects, and expected results.

  • Tailor the treatment plan to your specific needs.
